The 2022 Session of The Mississippi Annual Conference is just over a month in our rearview mirror, and we have already begun the planning for the 2023 session. Many have called with questions about the dates for 2023. Each of the members of the Mississippi Annual Conference were asked via survey where they would prefer to have the 2023 session. The results have already been communicated via social media. We have been diligently working at finding the best locations and dates available to us.

If you recall Bishop Swanson shared with us the growing complexity of finding adequate facilities to host us, and therefore, the need to make plans for our sessions of annual conference several years in advance. So, we have prayerfully done so. We have weeks designated so that everyone can be free to make vacation, church and family plans. The specific dates in those weeks will be forthcoming as more specifics are made known (like Judicial Council decisions, agenda items, etc.). Until then, these are the tentative dates and locations for 2023, 2024 and 2025 with approval from the Mississippi Annual Conference Planning Committee, Bishop Swanson and the extended cabinet:
  • 2023 – June 26-30 – Tupelo
  • 2023 - one-day called session in the fall to be determined after new bishop arrives in 2023
  • 2024 - May 28-June 1 – Gulf Coast
  • 2025 – May 27-31 – Gulf Coast
You will note that Jackson is not on this list. This was a difficult decision, but due to the ongoing water, parking and crime issues it was not deemed feasible to plan a conference there at this time. This is heart-breaking, but necessary. It is our hope and our prayer that we can return to Jackson in the future.

Please watch The Circuit Rider for more information as it becomes available. Don’t hesitate to reach out to my office if you have any questions and we will to assist you any way we can.
