Advisory Forms Attached - Response needed by November 15th

September 27 2022

For Immediate Release September 27, 2022

Greetings East Jackson S/PPRC Chairs and Clergy,

Just a quick follow-up to last week's email below about advisory.  I apologize for not including copies of the actual advisory forms for this year. Attached you will find a copy of both a PDF and Word version of the form along with Bishop Swanson's letter.

------------------------------------------

(1) Attached to this email you will find an important letter from Bishop Swanson which outlines the advisory process (whether your pastor will remain or move) for your church this year.  Because we will receive a new bishop on January 1, 2023, this year's process will conclude a little earlier than last year with the submission of the attached form due no later than November 15, 2022 to our district office.

  • Note: for those S/PPRC Chairs without email addresses, a paper copy of the attached forms was mailed today to their mailing address provided during the charge conference process last year.
  • Pastors, please confirm with your S/PPRC chair that they received this communication and forward or provide a copy if necessary.

(2) One important change implemented last year is how the evaluation process for East Jackson has shifted to the summer instead of this fall. This year evaluations are due May 1, 2023. This change was made in our district in order to help provide an appropriate emphasis on goal setting and reflection after the challenges we have all experienced the past two years. Our deepest desire is that the evaluation process becomes a healthy constructive feedback opportunity instead of expressing a desire for a change in appointment.

As always, thank you for your continued work and ministry, and let us know how we can support you in these processes.  If you have any questions, contact James Mason at eastjackson@mississippi-umc.org.
